At Institute for Adult Learning (IAL), we run a program named Certified Workplace Learning Specialists. This programme is intended to equip adult educators and other Continuing Education Training (CET) practitioners with the skill-sets to support enterprises in optimising the use of workplace learning to achieve organisational objectives.
Successful applicants will develop workplace learning consultancy skills through undertaking a work-based project that involves them diagnosing performance issues, co-creating workplace learning solutions, and implementing and evaluating the intervention for enterprises.
Each project typically lasts about 6 months and the enterprise will receive a comprehensive report that details the project findings, outcomes and recommendations.
Here is what enterprises
said of their IAL project
Charles & Keith
Chia Wai JyyHead (Talent Management)
"IAL has gone beyond its research and consultancy roles in helping us to enhance our workplace learning initiatives. The methodologies introduced offered us new perspectives that workplace learning can be conducted effectively even without projectors and slides and that it can go beyond the conventional show and tell.
The detailed diagnostics they conducted provided us invaluable insights into the expectations of our frontline colleagues and in-house trainers towards learning on the job. I certainly look forward to further collaboration with IAL. Thumbs up IAL"

Home-Fix Singapore
Gordon LeeGeneral Manager
"Even though our Boot Camp project with IAL is still underway, we have seen how the staff at one of our branches have progressed from being apprehensive at first about the workplace learning initiative, to fully embracing the new ways of learning on the ground.
This has reinforced my belief in the usefulness and benefits of workplace learning, as well as the importance of ownership of it. I am looking forward to seeing similar efforts take off in other branches."

The Ascott Limited
Willie OngVice President
"Ascott piloted a coaching programme on two properties in Singapore with positive responses from the coachees to the Supervisors and Managers. The supervisors learnt to be patient and to support staff to think for themselves rather than being prescriptive. The staff also learnt to be more independent and open to engaging the supervisors.
It is a programme Ascott will be willing to roll-out globally."

Kwan LifengEnterprise Development Manager
"The IAL consultants supported us in creating an on-the-job blueprint for a critical CNC manufacturing process. With the OJT coaching skills provided by IAL, our senior production staff are now more effective in their delivery. We are also improving the way our meetings are held with the meeting guides and facilitation skills training by IAL for more effective inter-department information exchange.
Thanks IAL for this opportunity to allow CKE to learn and grow!"

"The IAL partnership helped us to identify organisational systems and processes that could be enhanced to support workplace learning in our people’s daily work activities. The structured job shadowing approach was something we found to be very useful during the boot camp and we intend to roll it out to the rest of the organisation."

"The partnership with IAL has affirmed our belief that workplace learning is the way to go. Both our Restaurant Managers and Area Managers were exposed to demonstration, coaching and scaffolding methods to improve the service crew’s customer service. We are keen to continue with workplace learning and through more practices, we are confident that the frontline staff will improve even further."

"The concept of workplace learning has enabled staff to help each other learn together, experiment together, and share knowledge and experiences in their daily work.
